Domoticz on Android

One of the attractions of home automation is that you can use a smart phone or a tablet to control remote devices.

Since Domoticz is accessed through a web page, there is no difference between using it on a desktop, tablet, or phone. However, it is much less convenient to type the rather unweildy address, http://192.168.1.22:8080, on a tablet or phone's virtual keyboard. We can add this page to the favorites which avoids using the keyboard. But in Android there's an even more convenient trick.

Once you have reached the Domoticz dashboard, click the ⁝ icon (three vertical dots) at the top right, and select "Add to homescreen".

There is now an icon on the home screen.

What's more, when launched from the icon, the application will be shown in full screen mode and will have the appearance of a native Android application.

It would be nice to have the same in Linux. Its almost possible but it somewhat more complicated to accomplish.

Google Play Store

A search in Play  Store with the word Domoticz reveals that there are some applications that offer a more limited but perhaps more pleasing presentation for users who may not want to change the home control system. This is another issue to consider later.
