woopi@goldserver:~ $ cat /proc/device-tree/model Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 woopi@goldserver:~ $ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Revision Revision : a02082

woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade -y ... woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo nano /boot/config.txt

woopi@goldserver:~ $ man halt

HALT(8) halt HALT(8) NAME halt, poweroff, reboot - Halt, power-off or reboot the machine SYNOPSIS halt [OPTIONS...] poweroff [OPTIONS...] reboot [OPTIONS...] DESCRIPTION halt, poweroff, reboot may be used to halt, power-off or reboot the machine.

SHUTDOWN(8) shutdown SHUTDOWN(8) NAME shutdown - Halt, power-off or reboot the machine SYNOPSIS shutdown [OPTIONS...] [TIME] [WALL...] DESCRIPTION shutdown may be used to halt, power-off or reboot the machine.

woopi@goldserver:~ $ which halt poweroff reboot shutdown /sbin/halt /sbin/poweroff /sbin/reboot /sbin/shutdown woopi@goldserver:~ $ ls -l /sbin/halt /sbin/poweroff lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 /sbin/halt -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 /sbin/poweroff -> /bin/systemctl woopi@goldserver:~ $ ls -l /sbin | grep systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 halt -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 poweroff -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 reboot -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 runlevel -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 shutdown -> /bin/systemctl lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 19 15:19 telinit -> /bin/systemctl

man systemctl ... System Commands halt Shut down and halt the system. This is mostly equivalent to systemctl start halt.target --job-mode=replace-irreversibly --no-block, but also prints a wall message to all users. This command is asynchronous; it will return after the halt operation is enqueued, without waiting for it to complete. Note that this operation will simply halt the OS kernel after shutting down, leaving the hardware powered on. Use systemctl poweroff for powering off the system (see below). If combined with --force, shutdown of all running services is skipped, however all processes are killed and all file systems are unmounted or mounted read-only, immediately followed by the system halt. If --force is specified twice, the operation is immediately executed without terminating any processes or unmounting any file systems. This may result in data loss. Note that when --force is specified twice the halt operation is executed by systemctl itself, and the system manager is not contacted. This means the command should succeed even when the system manager has crashed. poweroff Shut down and power-off the system. This is mostly equivalent to systemctl start poweroff.target --job-mode=replace-irreversibly --no-block, but also prints a wall message to all users. This command is asynchronous; it will return after the power-off operation is enqueued, without waiting for it to complete. If combined with --force, shutdown of all running services is skipped, however all processes are killed and all file systems are unmounted or mounted read-only, immediately followed by the powering off. If --force is specified twice, the operation is immediately executed without terminating any processes or unmounting any file systems. This may result in data loss. Note that when --force is specified twice the power-off operation is executed by systemctl itself, and the system manager is not contacted. This means the command should succeed even when the system manager has crashed. reboot [arg] Shut down and reboot the system. This is mostly equivalent to systemctl start reboot.target --job-mode=replace-irreversibly --no-block, but also prints a wall message to all users. This command is asynchronous; it will return after the reboot operation is enqueued, without waiting for it to complete. If combined with --force, shutdown of all running services is skipped, however all processes are killed and all file systems are unmounted or mounted read-only, immediately followed by the reboot. If --force is specified twice, the operation is immediately executed without terminating any processes or unmounting any file systems. This may result in data loss. Note that when --force is specified twice the reboot operation is executed by systemctl itself, and the system manager is not contacted. This means the command should succeed even when the system manager has crashed. If the optional argument arg is given, it will be passed as the optional argument to the reboot(2) system call. The value is architecture and firmware specific. As an example, "recovery" might be used to trigger system recovery, and "fota" might be used to trigger a “firmware over the air” update. ...

woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo nano /etc/systemd/journald.conf

# This file is part of systemd. # ...# See journald.conf(5) for details. [Journal] Storage=persistent ...

woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo reboot ... michel@hp:~$ ssh woopi@goldserver.local ... woopi@goldserver:~ $ journalctl --list-boots -1 566012d616544e48a4280bca5bf45de9 Thu 2019-02-14 06:11:59 AST—Thu 2020-01-23 17:53:25 AST 0 c41546e70a0d49cea338ea96d9168e23 Thu 2020-01-23 17:53:25 AST—Thu 2020-01-23 17:54:15 AST woopi@goldserver:~ $ journalctl -b -1 -- Logs begin at Thu 2019-02-14 06:11:59 AST, end at Thu 2020-01-23 17:54:15 AST. -- Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Linux version 4.19.93-v7+ (dom@buildbot) (gcc version 4.9.3 (crosstool-NG crosstool-ng-1.22.0-88-g8460611)) #1290 SMP F Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: CPU: ARMv7 Processor [410fd034] revision 4 (ARMv7), cr=10c5383d Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: CPU: div instructions available: patching division code Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: CPU: PIPT / VIPT nonaliasing data cache, VIPT aliasing instruction cache Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: OF: fdt: Machine model: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Memory policy: Data cache writealloc Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: cma: Reserved 8 MiB at 0x3dc00000 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: On node 0 totalpages: 255488 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Normal zone: 2246 pages used for memmap Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Normal zone: 0 pages reserved Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Normal zone: 255488 pages, LIFO batch:63 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: random: get_random_bytes called from start_kernel+0xac/0x4b4 with crng_init=0 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: percpu: Embedded 16 pages/cpu s36864 r8192 d20480 u65536 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: pcpu-alloc: s36864 r8192 d20480 u65536 alloc=16*4096 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: pcpu-alloc: [0] 0 [0] 1 [0] 2 [0] 3 Feb 14 06:11:59 goldserver kernel: Built 1 zonelists, mobility grouping on.

woopi@goldserver:~$ dtoverlay -h gpio-shutdown Name: gpio-shutdown Info: Initiates a shutdown when GPIO pin changes. The given GPIO pin is configured as an input key that generates KEY_POWER events. This event is handled by systemd-logind by initiating a shutdown. Systemd versions older than 225 need an udev rule enable listening to the input device: ACTION!="REMOVE", SUBSYSTEM=="input", KERNEL=="event*", \ SUBSYSTEMS=="platform", DRIVERS=="gpio-keys", \ ATTRS{keys}=="116", TAG+="power-switch" This overlay only handles shutdown. After shutdown, the system can be powered up again by driving GPIO3 low. The default configuration uses GPIO3 with a pullup, so if you connect a button between GPIO3 and GND (pin 5 and 6 on the 40-pin header), you get a shutdown and power-up button. Usage: dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown,<param>=<val> Params: gpio_pin GPIO pin to trigger on (default 3) active_low When this is 1 (active low), a falling edge generates a key down event and a rising edge generates a key up event. When this is 0 (active high), this is reversed. The default is 1 (active low). gpio_pull Desired pull-up/down state (off, down, up) Default is "up". Note that the default pin (GPIO3) has an external pullup. debounce Specify the debounce interval in milliseconds (default 100)

woopi@goldserver:~ $ grep -i gpio-shutdown /boot/config.txt woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -l No overlays loaded woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay gpio-shutdown gpio_pin=17 woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -l Overlays (in load order): 0: gpio-shutdown gpio_pin=17

woopi@goldserver:~ $ dtoverlay -l Overlays (in load order): 0: dtparam i2c_arm=on 1: i2c-rtc ds3231=true 2: gpio-shutdown woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -r 1 woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -l Overlays (in load order): 0: dtparam i2c_arm=on 1: gpio-shutdown woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -r 0 woopi@goldserver:~ $ sudo dtoverlay -l Overlays (in load order): 0: gpio-shutdown
