End of X-10, Again?
March 3rd, 2015

After yesterdays good news, I read What is the difference between X10 - X10 - S10 - Eaton - Xanura - The page contains a very illuminating description of the recent history of X10, the company as well as the protocol. Dated 20th November 2014, it more or less predicts the end of X10 as a technology.

Marmitek has sold its X10 business to a Dutch company Haibrain. It appears that this new distributor is continuing Marmitek's policy of making available an unregistered copy of ActiveHome Pro; look under the SOFTWARE section. I have copied and renamed AHP_Marmitek.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\ActiveHome Pro\AHP.dll (making sure I kept a copy of the original AHP.dll). The result was version 3.316 of ActiveHome Pro without the nag screen. Recall that SW31A's current version is 3.318. Neither version works with my CM11A using the USB-serial adapter that I have.

Update: It looks like Haibrain is no longer distributing X10 hardware except for some wireless modules. I can't find the ActiveHome software but this is not quite so bad as is releasing it again.
